The start of a new week

I would like to start out by thanking everyone for all your prayers.  My radiation doctor told me today that I am doing remarkably well.  I went through all of this 4 years ago and my treatment this time is much more aggressive, but I’m not nearly as sick as last time.

I’ve met a couple of really great ladies undergoing treatment for cancer at the cancer center.  Last week they all finished and I sure missed seeing my friends today!  I’m very happy for them that they are finished though.  One women in particular is going through treatment for cancer in her brain.  It started out as breast cancer, she was cancer free for 6 years and it came back in her brain.  She’s about 10 years younger than me so it’s very sad.  On a positive note, her doctor is very hopeful for her survival because she tested positive for the hormone that causes the breast cancer.  Every 3 weeks she will have to go in for injections of heparin.  (I think that’s what it’s called) Then in 4 years there will be a vaccine and the vaccine will cause the body to make it’s own heparin.  A month ago she thought it was a death sentence, now she believes she will survive.

A lot of people think cancer patients are scared and depressed.  Well, everyone that I’ve met have been positive and upbeat.  Cancer thinks it’s going to come in a wreck us, but I have news for you cancer….we’re going to beat you and you’re not going to get us down!
